Eric Hammond is The President and Principal in charge of Hammond & Associates, Inc. and Vice President and Qualifier for Total Systems, Inc. Contractors. He has over Forty One years of Engineering and Management experience. Eric earned his Diploma in Electrical Engineering from The University Of Technology (UTECH) and his Mechanical Engineering Degree from The University Of The West Indies (UWI). He is also a registered Professional Engineer in The States of Florida, New York and Minnesota. He is a Certified Mechanical, Plumbing and Underground Utility Contractor in Florida and has planned, designed and managed both local and International projects. After working in several companies in The Caribbean, he migrated to The United States in 1978. He worked in various capacities with Fortune 500 Companies such as 3M Company, St Paul, Minnesota & Eastman Kodak Company, in Rochester, New York
Eric Hammond’s commitment to community re-investment is demonstrated in his many hours of volunteerism. He encourages his employees to be involved and gives them time off from work when necessary, to participate in community activities. Eric Hammond was recognized by the Broward County Commission for his hours of service on the Broward Board of Rules and Appeal, The City of Plantation for his work on the Code Enforcement and Zoning Boards, and also by the Daily Bread Food Bank. He was also Given the United Nations Engineering Award. He was also the Contractors Choice Awards Finalist in the category of Outstanding Engineering Firm sponsored by the Contractors Resource Center.
Eric Hammond is The Founder numerous sustainable organizations such as The Support and Entrepreneurial Center and The Kids in Science Club where he teaches Science to Kids on a weekly basis and gives scholarships to various students in our community. He also holds The annual Community Science & Technology Fair for Kids. Over the years, he has sponsored and participated in the Annual National Engineers Week Student outreach program and Math counts Competition. He is the founding President of the Greater Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce that serves the needs of the growing Small Business population in Broward County. His vision created the annual Summer Student’s Job Fair and Internship program. He was the past president of The Construction Specification Institute, Fort Lauderdale Chapter and was instrumental in expanding their Certification and Education Programs. He recommended the Job Fair and Business Exposition component of Unifest which is the only such program in Broward County that provides for networking and business development in a festival/carnival atmosphere. He has served on the Broward County Workforce Development Board (WAGES Board) providing opportunities for programs that could assist in transitioning individuals from welfare to the workforce by supporting funding for those programs. He was also a member of the Lauderdale Lakes Economic Development Board for six years. Mr. Hammond’s interest in the health and safety of our environment was the reason for his continuing service on the Broward County Brownfields Redevelopment Task Force Board.
Because of his commitment to his profession and the community, Mr. Hammond was invited to participate in the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Construction Industry Licensing Board, and the National Assessment Institute Exam Development Workshop.
Eric Hammond exemplifies the true meaning of a community leader. His community service work spans over many years but are too numerous to mention.
